TIMES OF REFRESHMENT
“...If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.”
(John 7:37)
Amid the hustle and bustle of the feast,
the excitement of the people, the meetings
and mismatches of the day, something more
serious was “going on” in the empty hearts of
the people. Passover had passed; Pentecost
had arrived. The stalls were spread
throughout the alleys of the city, blending in
with the superficial joy of the people.
Everything was pure excitement.
In the temple, the priests were immolating
the little lambs, their cleavers tearing into the
hearts of the holy little animals, and they
could no longer get a bleat out of them... That
blood seemed to provoke no reaction in the
hearts of the people. A “new and false”
formality or “contemporary ritual” had taken
over everything... Everyone was there for the
feast. All they had to do was "enjoy" the
celebration! A new magical and media-driven
world seemed to explode in everyone's heart.
- Perhaps it would satisfy the anguish,
emptiness, depression, and deep questioning
of this “new faith”, a “religion” without God,
without the Living Sacrifice on the Altar,
without the Blood of the Lamb, without the
Revelation of the Word, without Jesus, without
Christian Life, and even “without a Church”?
The Worship had become an eloquent
religious and commercial enterprise. A
business deal, in fact... How sad!
The Priest no longer had the “Blood of the
Lamb” on his hands to cleanse sinners... But
everything was vibrant, within a context of
pure formality, cold, empty, and soulless. No
tears, repentance, or confessions... It was
enough to show off their new lifestyle,
indicating their social class, wealth, poverty, or
misery.
But that did not matter. Those who have
more always show up!
This is how today's Pentecost is
celebrated - the ancient Feast of Booths - fifty
days after Passover - much more important
than the event itself. That the entire nation
would know, become aware, and that all the
villages would clap their hands, and that the
joy would spread en masse to all the people!
The media reigns in colors, omnipresent!
In the Temple, the Priest, the Altar, and the
Lamb were of little importance. All that
mattered was the spectacle... because the
heart of the people was empty, without faith,
without commitment, without life, and without
hope. The Celebrants had nothing "Revealed"
to transmit - like Moses from the top of the
rock of Horeb! In fact, it no longer seemed
necessary to listen to the Voice of God - “Each
person was enough for himself.” In other
words, each one was truly their own god... A
multicolored, instantaneous, vibrant, present,
global, magical, and fabulously spectacular
god! Controlled by an algorithm or Artificial
Intelligence! In a black temple... Who knows?
BUT SOMEONE WAS WATCHING FROM
AFAR, AND SOLEMNLY STOOD UP WITH A
LOUD CRY, SAYING: “AND ON THE LAST DAY,
THE GREAT DAY OF THE FEAST, JESUS STOOD
AND CRIED OUT SAYING: IF ANYONE
THIRSTS, LET HIM COME TO ME AND DRINK.”
(John 7:37).
IF ANYONE HAS EARS, LET HIM HEAR
THE VOICE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. JESUS
CHRIST IS SPEAKING VERY LOUDLY! TODAY!
GOD BLESS YOU.
